Radio Robins

Radio Robins are pleased to announce that Paradox Computers have kindly agreed to sponsor Radio Robins for the 2011-12 Season.

Radio Robins came about when Press & Media Officer, Brian Flynn, started looking for a way in which improved coverage of matches could be achieved for Altrincham supporters.

Because of the exceptionally high number of Premier League, Championship & Football League clubs in the Greater Manchester area, Altrincham were receiving virtually no radio coverage from BBC Radio Manchester & fans were generally having to rely on coverage from the BBC Local Radio Staion that were covering our opponents.

Following an appeal in the programme and on the club website, Altrincham supporter, Paul Burton, came up with a proposal to set up an internet radio station and within a few weeks, Radio Robins broadcast its first game on March 15th 2011……a 2-1 home victory over Forest Green Rovers.

It’s fair to say that there were a few technical difficulties in some of the games covered between then and the end of the season, but hopefully these have been ironed out by the introduction of a more robust, paid for broadcast service for the pre-season game against Manchester City on July 16th 2011.

The service relies on good internet or mobile connections and fortunately, these are excellent at Moss Lane. For away games, these obviously vary, but we will endeavour to cover as many games as we possibly can during this season.

Radio Robins has a team of six commentators, three of which are now deployed for each game.

One of the main aims of the service is to keep Altrincham fans, who no longer live in the area, up to date with a ‘live’ match experience and this seems to be very much appreciated by those people, who cannot get along to Moss Lane because they are too far away.

You can hear Radio Robins via the internet and simultaneously join us in the chatroom on
